Their name is taken from a poem by the South African revolutionary poet Keorapetse Kgositsile. Jalal Mansur Nuriddin, an Army paratrooper is one of the founding members of The Last Poets, a group of poets and musicians that evolved out of the Harlem writers workshop in New York.

together me and you an inseparable pair

this is premature, but I know this is real
if you
could look into my soul you would see how I feel

tears
from my eyes begin to pour when you pass me by
my heart
is calling for you to come inside and explore
a new
experience of love you've never had before
on ever
corner there's a rose, and on every turn there's a kiss
you can
search the whole world and never ever find a love like this
I want to hold to tight until your mine
being
close to your body just as well as your mind

you like being handled in an old fashioned way

bring you hot summer love on a cold winter's day
anything I can do nothings to big or small

I'll be there if you need me, all you need do is call

brothers want a piece but, we all can't have one

really hate it when you reach over and grab them

they should be given away as game show prizes

lips, rich soft and creamy like chocolate milk
your hips are forged of the strongest steel

and your eyes are like rare fine jewels
like diamonds surrounded by limpid pools

your hair is made from the finest thread
sparkling brown strands protrude from your head
your skin is that of the finest leather

Last night she cried, she mourned for me
she knew my love had died
she blessed me with my delicate life
but
allowed the devil to curse me, with struggle and strife
her
tears washed away all the evil I had known
all the
torment I had endured my sickness that hadn't been cured
last night
she embraced me, such complete and utter love
I'll never
know again, she smoothed my lonely aching soul
and
replaced precious things that death had stole
last
night she unveiled to me, the frightening specter
of the true
existence of my being a vast understanding overwhelmed me
from all
that I was seeing, her child's wounds would heal
no longer did
she weep, her temper raged from all that she could feel
knowing it
would not always be so, accepted it and blessed it
with
her sleep, we could sail for a hundred years
steering through
the ocean of our tears, thinking, remembering, contemplating
of our
past life, of those two years of struggle and strife
we could
wander together giving wise advice, to those in need
hope
they won't repeat our life pray they'll take heed
we
could harden our hearts, we could shut our eyes
we could
feel no more, we could walk with riches and despise
waiting,
anticipating for the clouds to have a good cry
for the
sky to dry, then to see the promise of a rainbow

a joy it is to know that she will never forge

wonderful vow, that reached through unshed blood
that this
unclean earth, will never again have a deadly flood
when I see those
clouds slowly diminish I'm so happy to see the rainbow
realizing
my wicked world will not have a finish from each time

always smile for the winning while the rainbow stays
reminding me
to always praise the truth, that though sometimes
I may feel
that I can drown in a flood of the sorrow of my tears
